Support and Guidance
Pastoral Care and Support - why is it important
Our school believes that by nurturing our students' wellbeing, we set the stage for optimal learning and allow our students to fully engage in their education.
Effective pastoral care goes beyond simply addressing student concerns; it actively incorporates a supportive and nurturing school environment that values respect and personal growth.
Eleanor is our designated pastoral leader. Working together with our staff, outside agencies, parents/carers and pupils (and sometimes our SEN coordinator or/and outside agencies), she provides when needed support around student welfare, behavioural and attendance issues. Her role includes but is not limited to:
- being our designated Anti-Bullying coordinator
- being the person for teachers, parents and children to come to with pastoral concerns (social, emotional and behavioural).
- working with our Social worker Angelique
- monitoring and working to support parents when attendance issues arise.
If as a parents, you have any concerns and/or feel your family or child needs support, you may contact Eleanor via email: eleanorb@harbouribsr.nl
Social Worker
A registered social worker is available at our school for consultation by special appointment. Her name is Angelique and her role is to assist families in dealing with social-emotional problems, particularly when a family has moved to a new country or when the family goes through a difficult time such as divorce or grief.
Angelique can help support children with a range of different needs; such as anxiety, regulating emotions, friendships etc.
Parents may also consult her about any worries they have concerning child-rearing issues (such as setting boundaries) or when parents are going through a divorce, experience bereavement or deal with inter-personal family issues.
We encourage our families to make use of her services when necessary and her details are below. However, requests for a referral from teachers or parents need to go through our Pastoral Lead first (Eleanor).
