All about the Netherlands
The subject previously known as "Dutch" is now called "All About the Netherlands." In this subject, students are immersed in Dutch culture, customs, celebrations and traditions. This approach aligns with the transient nature of our school community, where most families stay with us for an average of three years. By focusing on cultural understanding, we ensure that all students, regardless of their background, can fully participate in and appreciate the richness of Dutch life during their time here.
What you should expect as a parent:
-
All students from group 0 to 8 attend a weekly ‘’All about the Netherlands’’ lesson, which is taught in English.
-
Students who do not participate in EAL lessons will attend an additional lesson once every two weeks focusing more on conversational Dutch.
-
Teachers will inform parents when their child stops receiving EAL support and starts receiving the additional lesson Dutch.
-
Our program aims at helping the students gain insight into everyday life and the customs of the Netherlands as a host country. Due to limited teaching time, we cannot aim at helping students to reach bilingual proficiency.
